Description

This camp gives participants an opportunity to start learning about the birds of Peru.  There are over 1800 species of birds in Peru, so we will just scratch the surface of what can be learned about Peru’s avifauna.

Participants will be encouraged to follow their interests in how they study the Peruvian birds.  They could study birds of prey, hummingbirds, or woodpeckers among others. They can study a subset of birds found in a particular location, like Machu Picchu, or a specific location on the Amazon River or in the Amazon Rain Forest.  If needed, campers will learn a process to narrow down their interests to a bite sized topic for the week.

After some research, participants will choose an art activity to represent what they have learned.  It can be a collection of drawings or paintings, a comic, a sculpture, a diorama, etc.  Campers will have access to a variety of art mediums and materials to create their Masterpiece!

I have been involved in homeschool enrichment programs for over 10 years. I enjoy helping students learn to ask questions and dig for knowledge. My preferred system of learning is leading students in project-based studies in geography, science, art and ELA. My hobbies include ballroom dancing, art, music, and birding.
